Tenth full day?? Fourth state-Iowa. Sunday 13th April.
"Let it snow, let it snow, let it SNOW!!"
That's right, we have snow!!!! And I'm so incredibly excited about it!! While it was actually snowing last night I was just standing by the window watching it. So cool.
Anyways, we are now staying in my daddy's home town of Estherville ((ironic, I know!)) at a little motel that smells of insecticide/weed or something. We went to breakfast at the small town's cafe. It was just like you'd expect one of those small town eating places that you see in the movies, with the apparent owner running around with a coffee jug, telling jokes, the unexperienced waitress with a dozen earrings in her ears giving you that look that says, "I really don't care what you order, just hurry up and do it." Ha, yeah it wasn't that exaggerated, but you catch my drift. And it's one of those old school places that still let you smoke inside, wherever you want to sit. Needless to say, we ate pretty fast.
We're just waiting for Scott, Sara and crew to show up so we can go to the Good Samaritan resting home to have a big reunion with a whole bunch of people that I've probably never known unless they changed my diaper once when I was like, 3 months old. Oh yes, I'm totally going to remember you..mmm.
We're going to the rest home because that's where my Grandpa ((my dad's dad)) lives. He has dementia, so I don't think he's going to remember any of these people either. Maybe we'll just sit in a corner and play guitar together and play with Cole and Acca while we watch everyone else eat over-greasedified pizza. Well, that would be the ideal, except he doesn't really remember who I am either. I don't blame him though, he's 95 and we hardly ever came to visit when we were both younger. Especially after moving to NZ. I tell you, it's hard to live a life without regrets when your grandpa doesn't remember you.
But onwards and upwards! Dad's old best friend from the navy that he hasn't seen in something like 35 years is coming to visit with us tomorrow! I think that will be the highlight of Dad's trip in the least.
I'm really just hanging out until we get out of Iowa and go see my mom's parents. Out of everyone that I know and miss in this country, I miss my Grandpa Irwin the mostest. He's pretty much my favourite person in the world, and I haven't seen him in about two to three years.
Oh! Something else really cool happened yesterday, we got King Size packs of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and the best part was, they hadn't melted at the bottom and gotten stuck to the paper. Sounds small, but little things can make the biggest difference.
That was my wisdom for today. Hope you enjoyed it. I'm gonna go read now to catch up on my English homework: Read "To Kill a Mocking Bird."
